Handcrafted Victorian-style terrarium designed for indoor plants, with a classic architectural form, practical access, and a durable clear structure.

This classic Victorian terrarium is designed for indoor plants and decorative botanical arrangements.

Made from high-quality 4.5 mm transparent acrylic, it is designed for clarity, durability, and precision. Its design is inspired by historic Wardian cases, combining a traditional greenhouse silhouette with practical function for modern interiors.

Each terrarium is developed from exclusive designs that I create myself, then precision-cut and hand-assembled in my workshop in Lac-Delage, Quebec. The parts are bonded using a specialized acrylic adhesive and reinforced with silicone seals to improve strength and help retain humidity.

The removable top allows easy access for watering, trimming, and arranging plants, while the waterproof base helps protect furniture and interior surfaces.

Suitable for orchids, ferns, mosses, and other small to medium indoor plants that benefit from a more protected environment.

Plants shown are not included.

FAQ

Have any questions about our Classic Victorian-style terrarium? We're here to help.

What type of plants are ideal for this terrarium?

Tropical plants such as orchids, ferns, and moss are excellent choices for this terrarium. These plants thrive in environments with high humidity and indirect light, which this terrarium can provide. You can also experiment with smaller tropical species that enjoy similar conditions, like air plants or miniature begonias.

How can I tell if the humidity level is correct inside?

Using a hygrometer is the best way to monitor humidity levels. Aim for a range between 60% and 80%, which is ideal for most tropical plants. If the humidity is too low, you can mist the plants or adjust the water reservoir. If it’s too high, ensure proper ventilation by occasionally airing out the terrarium to prevent mold or mildew.

Does this type of terrarium require a lot of maintenance?

This terrarium requires minimal maintenance when set up correctly. You'll need to regularly check the humidity and occasionally wipe down the interior to prevent buildup of moisture or condensation. Keeping the lighting consistent and ensuring proper airflow will help minimize the need for frequent intervention. Overall, once established, the plants should thrive with occasional misting and routine observation.

What kind of lighting is recommended for a terrarium like this?

Full-spectrum LED lighting is ideal for this terrarium, as it simulates natural sunlight and supports photosynthesis.

Position the light source close enough to provide sufficient energy to your plants but avoid overheating them. If natural light is available, placing the terrarium near an east-facing window can help your plants receive gentle morning sunlight, which is beneficial for growth.

However, avoid direct afternoon sunlight, which can be too intense. For optimal growth, combine natural light with LED lighting to provide 12-14 hours of light per day. This ensures that your plants receive consistent, balanced light for vibrant health.

Can carnivorous plants be grown in this terrarium?

Yes, carnivorous plants like Nepenthes and Drosera are well-suited for this terrarium due to its ability to maintain high humidity levels. These plants thrive in moist, nutrient-poor conditions, so using distilled water or rainwater and avoiding nutrient-rich soil is essential. The terrarium provides the perfect microclimate for them to capture insects while showcasing their unique features.
